The Issac Pearson House

The Isaac Pearson House is on the National and NJ Registers of Historic Places and was the home of a New Jersey official that was a prominent figure during the Revolutionary War. Built in 1773 and located in the Decou neighborhood of Hamilton – was the home of its namesake, who was the Nottingham Tax Collector, a justice or the peace, a freeholder, township clerk and an NJ Provincial Congress delegate.

Abbott House Museum

The John Abbott II House was built circa 1730. It was in the latter part of the year 1776, and the British were advancing upon Trenton. Samuel Tucker, the State Treasurer, hearing of the British advance, wanted to save the State's money and his own. On November 30, 1776 he took the unsigned public money, to the home of John Abbott. The British arrived in Trenton on December 8, 1776, and on that day Mr. Tucker took the signed public money, amounting to more than fifteen hundred pounds, and a thousand pounds he held in trust, and secreted it with other monies in the Abbott home.

Isaac Pearson House Restoration

When restored, the mansion will be used as a museum, tourist information center for Mercer, Northern Burlington and Western Monmouth counties, a colonial arts and crafts maker space and a performing arts venue. Please help us restore this house. Click here to learn how.

Isaac Pearson, a political rising star in New Jersey, builds a spectacular Georgian mansion on his 1350 acre farm in what is now known as the DeCou neighborhood in Hamilton Township.

December 26th, 1776

Pearson learns of Washington's rout of the Hessian soldiers in the Battle of Trenton from retreating soldiers crossing his farm on the way to join a brigade of Hessians stationed in Bordentown.

December 27th, 1776

Pearson learns that Washington evacuated Trenton and returned to Pennsylvania after the Battle of Trenton.

December 28th, 1776

Pearson departed his plantation and headed north. He stopped at the house of Benjamin Ward in Hightstown. What transpired there is unknown. Pearson was shot and killed by Continental troops as he attempted to flee the house.
